Russell Shomberg

Who I am and what I do

I am a mechanical engineer who also dabbles in programming, electronics, and writing. I am interested in minimal, sustainable engineering design and obsessed with leadership, and education. I am also an officer in the US Navy, but that isn't the point of this site.

The point of this site

In the age of information, every person should have a personal web site. This is my platform for contacting the world. Everything you see her either self made or a collaberation I was involved in. If people are interested in things I do, I am glad to show them off.

Site Redesign

May 2012

My most recent site re-design happened in May 2012. I went with a minimalist black and white design with a few red accents.

Thrust Vector Control for BU Rocket Team

May 2012

This is my senior design project for my Mechanical Engineering degree at Boston University. We developed a testable version of a jet vane system for the BU Rocket Team. This system can be further developed for applications in VTVL. The main strength of our system is that it would be fairly simple to replicate and adapt for any amature rocket team.

Hovering Rocket Simulation

April 2012

I made this game as an experiment to see if I could. It took about 24 hours to learn how to write games and code the basics of it. Since then, I have been adding little improvements where I can just for fun. I made it for a project showcase we were having at BUILDS.
